Inhalt: ZIMMER MIT AUSSICHT, das Musical nach dem beliebten Roman von E.M. Forster, ist Gesellschaftssatire und böse Komödie zugleich - aber vor allem ist es eine der klassischsten Liebesgeschichten aller Zeiten. Inmitten des goldenen Sonnenlichts und der veilchenbedeckten Hügel der Toskana trifft das behütete englische Landmädchen Lucy Honeychurch auf den Freigeist George Emerson und ihr Leben verändert sich für immer.

Wir schreiben das Jahr 1908 und Lucy ist mit ihrer sittsamen Cousine Charlotte Bartlett in Florenz unterwegs. Charlotte Bartlett. Lucy möchte sich über die schönen Dinge des Lebens informieren, um Cecil Vyse, ihrem kultivierten Verlobten aus London, eine gute Ehefrau zu sein. Aber Lucys rastloser Geist bricht immer wieder durch - besonders wenn sie Beethoven-Sonaten auf dem Klavier spielt. Im selben Hotel wie Lucy und Charlotte wohnt auch der junge George, ein Eisenbahnangestellter, der mit seinem kranken Vater Urlaub macht. Tatsächlich ist das Hotel voller exzentrischer Briten, darunter der spießige, überhebliche Reverend Beeber, die reizbare "Lady Novelist" Miss Lavish und Georges Vater Mr. Emerson, ein eingefleischter Sozialist und Humanist, der sich um seinen launischen, nachdenklichen Sohn sorgt. Er erkennt die Verbindung zwischen George und Lucy noch bevor sie es tun. Ein beängstigendes Erlebnis auf einer Piazza, ein gestohlener Kuss an einem Berghang im Regen... Lucy kann den Schwung dieser gefährlichen Romanze mit George nicht aufhalten. Doch zurück in Surrey, stürzt sich Lucy mit neuem Eifer in die Vorbereitungen für ihre Hochzeit mit Cecil, der kultiviert und wohlhabend ist. Er ist aber auch ein Sturkopf und ein Snob. Wird Lucy den edwardianischen Konventionen nachgeben und alles verfolgen, was sie zu wollen glaubte - oder wird sie ihrem wahren Herzen folgen und riskieren alles zu verlieren was sie je gekannt hat?

Nach gefeierten Produktionen im Old Globe in San Diego und im 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle ist ZIMMER MIT AUSSICHT bereit, das Publikum erneut zu unterhalten.

JEFFREY STOCK: Sein Spektrum an Kompositionen ist breit gefächert. Vom Tony-nominierten Broadway-Musical Triumph of Love mit Betty Buckley und F. Murray Abraham in den Hauptrollen bis hin zu einem symphonischen und chorischen Auftragswerk, das in der Carnegie Hall mit dem weltberühmten Cellisten Yo-Yo Ma uraufgeführt wurde. Er schrieb die Musik und die Texte für A Room with a View (Zimmer mit Aussicht), das im San Diego Old Globe und im 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle aufgeführt wurde. Jeffrey hat ein Guggenheim-Stipendium für Musik, ein NEA-Stipendium und den Jonathan Larson Award gewonnen und war zweimal Finalist für den Kleban Prize für Lyrik. Zusammen mit Marc Acito wurde Jeffrey vom 5th Avenue Theater beauftragt ein neues Musical mit dem Titel Dutch Master (Holländischer Meister) über den berüchtigten Kunstfälscher Han van Meegeren zu schreiben, das in New York von der Prospect Theater Company und dem York Theatre bearbeitet wurde. Derzeit arbeitet Jeffrey in Berlin an zwei neuen dramatischen Musicals für den deutschen / europäischen Markt sowie an einem neuen Werk für den Broadway.

MARC ACITO schrieb das Libretto für das Broadway-Musical Allegiance, das von der New York Newsday für sein "gut strukturiertes Buch" und seine "voll entwickelten Charaktere" ausgezeichnet wurde. Zu seinen weiteren Stücken gehören A Room with a View (Zimmer mit Aussicht) (5th Avenue, Old Globe) und Chasing Rainbows (Goodspeed Musicals, Papermill Playhouse), ein Musical über die Jugendzeit von Judy Garland, das im Londoner West End aufgeführt werden wird. Im Jahr 2016 schrieb Marc ein neues Musical in China, The Secret (Broadway Asia) mit den Liedern von Jay Chou, dem "König des Mando-Pop". Sein zweites Musical in China, Sound of the Silk Road (Nederlander Worldwide), feierte im Juli 2021 Premiere. Sein Regiedebüt gab Marc mit dem Musical Bastard Jones bei The Cell in New York. Marc hat den Ken Kesey Award für seinen Roman How I Paid for College gewonnen, der auch ein Editor's Choice der New York Times und ein Top Teen Pick der American Library Association war und in fünf Sprachen übersetzt wurde. Das Buch hat eine Fortsetzung hervorgebracht: Attack of the Theater People. Marc war früher Kommentator bei NPR's All Things Considered und hat für die New York Times, Playbill und American Theatre geschrieben. Er unterrichtet "Geschichte und das Musical" an der New York University's New Studio on Broadway.

Synopsis: A ROOM WITH A VIEW, the new musical based on E.M. Forster’s beloved novel, is both social satire and wicked comedy -- but above all, it is one of the classic love stories of all time. Amid the golden sunlight and violet-covered hills of Tuscany, sheltered English country girl Lucy Honeychurch encounters freethinking George Emerson and their lives are changed forever.

The year is 1908, and Lucy is on tour in Florence with her prim spinster cousin Charlotte Bartlett. Lucy is keen to educate herself about the finer things so as to be a proper wife to Cecil Vyse, her urbane, cultured fiancé from London. But Lucy's restless spirit keeps breaking through the surface – especially when she plays Beethoven sonatas furiously on the piano. Staying at the same hotel with Lucy and Charlotte is young George, a railroad employee on holiday with his ailing father. In fact, the hotel is full of eccentric Brits, including the stuffy, fatuous Reverend Beeber, the excitable “lady-novelist” Miss Lavish, and George’s father Mr. Emerson, a dyed-in-the-wool socialist and gentle humanist who frets about his moody, pensive son. He sees the connection between George and Lucy even before they do. A frightening experience shared in a piazza; a stolen kiss on a hillside in the rain...

Lucy cannot seem to stop the momentum of this dangerous romance with George. But once back in Surrey, Lucy throws herself with renewed fervor into the preparations for her wedding to Cecil Vyse. Cecil is sophisticated and wealthy. He is also a prig and a snob. Will Lucy yield to Edwardian convention and pursue everything she thought she wanted – or will she follow her true heart and risk losing everything she has ever known?

After acclaimed productions at San Diego’s Old Globe and Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, A ROOM WITH A VIEW is poised to entertain audiences again. JEFFREY STOCK composes a wide range of music, from the Tony-nominated Broadway musical TRIUMPH OF LOVE starring Betty Buckley and F. Murray Abraham, to a symphonic and choral commission premiered at Carnegie Hall featuring the world’s most renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. He wrote the music and lyrics for A ROOM WITH A VIEW, produced at the San Diego Old Globe and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater. He has won a Guggenheim Fellowship for music, an NEA grant, the Jonathan Larson Award, and has twice been a finalist for the Kleban Prize for lyrics. Together with Marc Acito, Jeffrey was commissioned by the 5th Avenue Theater to write a new musical called DUTCH MASTER, about the infamous art forger, Han van Meegeren, and which was workshopped in New York by Prospect Theater Company and the York Theatre.

In 2016, Acito became the first Broadway writer to create a new musical in China; The Secret (Broadway Asia) features the songs of Jay Chou, the “King of Mando-pop.” His second musical in China, Sound of the Silk Road (Nederlander Worldwide) premiered July of 2021. Acito made his directing debut with his musical Bastard Jones at The Cell in New York, which he will adapt and direct as an independent film for New Edens, a production company he founded to produce art-house film musicals. His short film, Mad / Woman, which stars and features the songs of “genre-fluid” singer-songwriter Storm Large, premiered at the Portland Film Festival in October, 2022. Acito won the Ken Kesey Award for his novel How I Paid for College, which was also a New York Times Editor’s Choice, a Top Teen Pick by the American Library Association and was translated into five languages. It spawned a sequel, Attack of the Theater People. A former commentator on NPR’s All Things Considered, Acito has written for The New York Times, Playbill and American Theatre. He teaches “History and the Musical” at NYU’s New Studio on Broadway.
