Inhalt: Ein junger Mann, Arnold, kehrt aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg nach Hause zurück. Auf einer einsamen Straße im Thüringerwald trifft er eine junge Frau an einer Brücke. Eingeladen in ihr Dorf, betritt Arnold eine Welt aus einer anderen Zeit. Handelt es sich dabei wirklich um eine Sekte, die der modernen Welt den Rücken gekehrt hat, oder ist er einfach nur geistig geschädigt von seinen Erfahrungen an der Front?

Nach und nach erkennt Arnold, dass die junge Frau, in die er sich verliebt hat, die anderen Dorfbewohner und er nicht im frühen 20. Jahrhundert leben, sondern im frühen 13. Jahrhundert.

In einer Parallelwelt diskutieren Arnolds Nachkommen über die Enthüllung eines Familiengeheimnisses und eines Versprechens - ein Geheimnis und ein Versprechen, das Taten erfordert, um die mittelalterlichen Bewohner von Germelshausen zu retten.

In Verbindung mit den beiden Handlungssträngen steht die Frage: Was ist Fortschritt? Gibt es Dinge in dieser Welt, die man besser in Ruhe lässt? Wo steht die Menschheit wirklich in Bezug auf die Welt und welche Verantwortung bedeutet das? Und - kann Liebe wirklich die Zeit überwinden?

Synopsis: A young man, Arnold, is returning home in from the First World War. On a lonely road in the the Thüringen Forest, he meets a young woman by a bridge. Invited to her village, Arnold enters a world from another time. Is this reallity, are they a sect who've turned their back on the modern world, or is he simply damaged mentally from his experience on the front?

Little by little Arnold comes to realise that the young woman he has fallen in love with, the other villagers and he are not living in the early 20^th Century, but in the early 13^th Century.

In a parallel world, Arnold's descendants are in a discussion about revealing a family secret and promise - a secret and promise that will require action to save the medieval inhabitants of Germelshausen.

Combined with the two storylines stands the question: what is progress? Are there things in this world that are better left alone? Where does mankind really stand in relationship to the world and what responsibilities does this mean? And - can love really transcend time?
